What conditions do you treat? Do you only treat martial artists?

We treat a wide variety of people and conditions – all are welcome. In addition to treating a spectrum of orthopedic conditions, we also do women’s health for pelvic pain, incontinence and pregnancy/post-partum. Some of our other specialties include chronic pain, back and neck pain, rib and shoulder problems, and hip and knee issues. Some of our clients are yoga instructors, runners, students, teachers… you name it. Many of our clients put in long hours on a computer. We see people of all ages, interests, and activity levels.

What makes your clinic different? Why should I come to see you?

Our clinic is set up in a different fashion from many other physical therapy clinics—we treat in a private treatment room and see only one patient per hour. In many physical therapy clinics, therapists need to see 2-3 patients per hour, and patients end up spending much of their therapy time with an aide watching them do exercises they could do at home. In therapy sessions with us, you have our undivided attention as we do advanced manual treatments and create a tailored program just for you. In addition to the extra time we spend together, you have the benefit of our 10 years of experience and advanced physical therapy training, including training in osteopathic based manual therapy.

Do I need a referral from a doctor to have treatment with you?

The District of Columbia has direct access to physical therapy, which means you do not need a referral from a physician to have physical therapy. Some insurance companies require a prescription from a physician in order to reimburse you for your physical therapy costs. Check with your insurance company to see if a physician referral is needed.

Does my insurance cover physical therapy?

ThriveAgain Physical Therapy is an out-of-network Physical Therapy provider for all insurance companies and does not deal directly with insurances. This means you pay for treatment upfront, and we will be happy to file reimbursements claims with your insurance on your behalf. Insurance companies reimburse at different levels. We suggest you check with your insurance company to learn more about your out-of-network coverage.

Why doesn’t ThriveAgain Physical Therapy participate with my insurance?

We don’t participate with insurances in order to be able to provide high quality care and maximize the one-on-one time we get to spend together each treatment. Despite being an out-of-network provider, many clients find physical therapy with us to be highly cost effective. At other physical therapy clinics, patients need to come 2 or 3 times a week for multiple weeks. At ThriveAgain physical therapy, we’re able to accomplish quite a lot each session, so many clients only need to come in one time a week, and some only need a few sessions to be feeling great. This can save you time and get you feeling better faster. Plus the co-pays at other clinics add up.

How can I find out more about my plan and coverage?

Call your insurance company’s customer service number, and ask them to provide you with their reimbursement policy for out-of-network outpatient physical therapy. Find out if there is a deductible, whether there is a limit to the number of sessions they will cover, and what percentage they will reimburse.
